Consignment Procedure

All items brought in for consignment should be as follows:

           ~ Name brand new to very gently used apparel

           ~ Recognizable household brands (toys & larger items)

           ~ Checked for recalls (before entering Hug Bug)

           ~ Disinfected

           ~ Freshly laundered and from of wrinkles, fading and stains

           ~ All orginal parts and batteries if required to operate

The following are not accepted:

• Target/Walmart  apparel
• Recalled items
• Car Seats/Cribs or bedding
• Stains, fading, damaged zipper, missing buttons, wrinkles or tears

          NO ONESIES OR SLEEPERS

When you are ready to consign your first up to 50 items, have in mind a convenient drop off day. We schedule appointments to drop off Tuesday thru Saturday anytime between 10:30 am-3pm

Once you know what weekday works for you go to the contact page of the  site

Appointments are booked daily and have no set time.

Note 3 to 4 appointments are booked daily and the schedule is usually full 1 to 3 weeks in advance.

On the day of your drop please have your name on your bin

Upon arrival you will need to bring all items into the store. There  is no store help available.

All items will be checked for lead and recalls on the spot and if found unsafe, removed with or without permission!

You will be given a consignment contract to sign and given a consignor number that will appear on the ticket with each item consigned and placed on the rack for sale.

Within 1-3 days you will receive an email with your consignment inventory listed, at which time you will be asked to return to the store @ your earliest convenience to pick up your bin(s) and items that were not accepted for consignment.

Please note if less than eight items that fit consigning criteria all will be returned.

Also note once the inventoried list has been emailed you have three days to pick up remaining items. Due to limited space Hug Bug will be forced  to donate the items if not picked up in that time.

~Your items will run for 30 days before funds can be pulled in the form of a check.

~Consignment payments are paid out between the 15th and the last day of each month.

~There are over 300 consignors at Hug Bug, therefore it is the consignors responsibility to do ALL following up on payments and expired pick ups.

You may use the balance inside the store as soon as it accumulates.

If your items are still unsold after 90 days they become expired in the system. 

It is the consignors responsibility to contact Hug Bug to reclaim your unsold items Hug Bug requires 48 hours notice to have time to pull items from inventory.

You may also permit Hug Bug to donate your reclaimed items to The Children’s Aide Society located in Waldorf..

Children’s Aide finds a home for everything

Nothing is trashed, everything is reused and there are a lot of families very accepting of these items.

Most consignors of Hug Bug continue on into each season and have been very pleased with the process!
